Leonardo da Vinci would be proud. These won't be officially announced until later this month at the Sinsheim Show, but we were able to get the scoop early! Big thanks to all the really cool guys at Audison! Here's what they had to say:
The beautiful Italian works of art you see here are the new Audison Thesis speakers. The set is known as the "Orchestra", and each component is named after a different musical instrument. The Orchestra is sold as a 3-way active kit, meaning a passive crossover is not included (yet), and is designed for use with an electronic crossover and therefore separate amplification to each driver. However, if you want to go passive all is not lost. The crazy cats at Audison will offer a unique option allowing installers/customers to log on to their website and submit their vehicle and installation specifications to the engineers in Italy who will custom design a passive crossover network for your particular vehicle and application. Now, they don't actually build the crossover network for you, but they will provide you with a parts list with all the required values and specs, and your qualified installer would build the crossover for you. I don't know of any other speaker manufacturer that goes to such lengths for perfection. Hats off to Audison.

The Orchestra's sexy baskets are CNC'd from a solid aluminum block and feature the radial venting technology found on Audison's Mille series woofers. After testing 30 different cone materials, Audison went with a composite fiberglass/pulp cone (not a sandwich cone), and went with a double-rolled butyl rubber surround. However, one of the more interesting features is the dust cap. It's made of clear poly-crystaline and you can see all the way through the speaker and into the pole piece.
Everything including the grilles was considered when designing the speaker system. The grille is machined from a solid piece of zinc, and the kit also includes a metal mesh grille insert for those who want a bit more protection (not pictured).
The Thesis Orchestra line should come in around the $2k mark, which is not surprising at all for a speaker of this caliber. I'm looking forward to the first chance I get to hear these fine Italian works of art.
